What is two-factor authentication?
Two-factor authentication requires something you have (a security token) and something you know (the token PIN). To sign in, both factors must be present. This provides significantly increased security when compared to common username & password schemes - and helps to protect your online accounts from unauthorized access.
What is a federated identity?
With a federated identity your credentials are always stored with the 'identity provider'. When you sign in to an online service, instead of providing credentials to the service provider, the service provider trusts the identity provider to validate the credentials. So you never provide credentials directly to anybody but the identity provider. GoldKey ID is the identity provider for Gold Connect Secure Sign-In.
